paid invoices and packages

last weekend we cleaned out the car, vacuumed and dug out the decades of crud that was inside of the car. we removed the windshield and broke it into pieces ( i have the tiny cut on my thumb that would not stop bleeding to prove it. )
so we placed a couple large orders to get things under way. the packages started coming. i came home to 7 boxes in the foyer. and most of them aren't very light. as with anything there is a budget and some numbers to be held responsible to... so i guess i should do a total of whats paid out so far in this project :
$2,000- body & paint
$2,000-interior
$105.95-JVC car stereo (walmart was $10 cheaper than crutchfield, free delivery to store)
$103.53- battery (auto zone)
$69.07 - u-haul trailer rental (watch those bastards like a hawk if you rent from them. they snuck $ on)
$49.79- shop vac (home depot)
$600.00- rims & tires (brand new2012 camaro heritage steel wheels & bf goodrich all weather tires)
$53 - POR 15 blackcote (ebay)
$373- front disc brake conversion with 2 inch drop spindles .. (ebay inlcuded shipping of $54)
$279-control arms (ebay free shipping)
$1335.49 Summit Racing ($16 shipping included; front struts/ rear struts ,lowering springs,2 qtr panel patches,bushings,starter,2 rocker panels )

grand total so far : $6,968.83 the cap is 10k.
i think this can be done. i have nothing to base that solid opinion on other than sheer optimism and faith in Chris
i had to borrow El Nundo's truck to drive to Havre De Grace for these wheels. $600! i felt like i was stealing them!

they told me the car maybe drove 5 miles  on these tires.

my first shipment of parts.

woot ! springs!

i hope these fit on the chevelle. that way i can go back to the forums and advise the others! pay it forward! i only find threads asking is camaro wheels will fit on a chevelle.. no one actually trying it. until now.

thats it for now. there's a thunderstorm and im afraid to lose power.. in all of these orders , i still haven't bought a lap top battery.

Shit just got real.

I own a 69 Chevelle. And it's actually sitting in my garage. We hauled it on a trailer from southern Md today. Thank goodness my dad and Chris have patience. The battery was dead, so we've replaced that (living around the corner from autozone will prove to be handy,I'm sure)
The garage needed some adjusting to accommodate the car but it's just enough space now ( with a little shifting of stuff)
The original tags are in the car , a little rusty but I think I'll clean them up and do some artsy shit with them. Cause I like to recycle.
This is short today. I just wanted to say "holy shit!!! I really own the car !!!"
it's in my garage !!
I could never say enough how appreciative I am to have someone in my life that is helping make this a reality.
I'm a lucky woman : )

we all have to start somewhere

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
 Lao-tzu

When I was small , my dad had a 1971 Chevelle. It was a flat dark green with bovine-esque markings of a bastardized shade of purple..maybe burgundy?
 who knows.
I didn't know as a child how much I loved that car. I just did. I couldn't appreciate it with my busy agenda consisting of skinned knees, bike riding and well.. all of Barbie's trysts with Ken were quite time consuming.
My mother and my dad made better friends than romantic interests. After they split, my dad would continue to pick me up in that beast of a vehicle. I could hear him coming from a mile away. It was a comforting sound, the loud rumble bouncing off of the road. I knew we would take a ride somewhere , more than likely to a friendly's where I would get a scoop of black raspberry ice cream. Or possibly swing by the Toys R Us and get that hooker Barbie a new outfit for one of her hook ups with Ken. Who knew ??? It was friday night, I had a $5 allowance burning a hole in my corduroy pocket and there was endless possibilities once he picked me up !

I grew up and moved away. He has since married and had another little girl. The car was lost in that shuffle and sold to someone who could give her the time and attention she needed.

In my adult life I have owned 2 cars.
 now 3
Car #1 was a 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage. What the dealership doesn't disclose about the car is that "mirage" refers to the delusion that everything under the hood might make it past 60,000 miles. When I took the car into O'Donnell Honda the transmission was slipping and I had crossed ever finger, toe and appendage on my body in hopes that they wouldn't notice.

Car #2 is my 2001 Honda Civic , which currently has just under 169,000 miles and going strong. She has been paid off for almost 6 years, and is held together with a strong layer of dirt and random stickers.I love my civic. I will drive it until it falls apart, then I will piece her back together and keep going.

I've always talked about when I win the lottery and I can buy my own Chevelle. I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by some positive influences who reminded me that lottery winnings weren't necessary. Of course , being the financial stickler that I am.. it felt like the mega millions was necessary. That is until recently. One day my mechanic buddy told me he spotted a 72 Chevelle for sale. I'll spare the details. it wasn't the car for me , but it did "fan the fire" as he says. The idea of owning the vehicle became much more tangible. I ran the numbers with my bank, with my insurance. I recalculated my monthly budge 4 million times. I could do it. If the right opportunity presented itself. But I was convinced It had to be the right opportunity. I wasn't about to jump on any car that came along.
Like I said before, I'm extremely lucky to be surrounded by supportive and optimistic people. So with the guidance of the man I adore (my boyfriend..not Scott Ian:), I have purchased a Car # 3 , which is my very own 1969 Chevelle Malibu 350. He's taken the car on as his own project , with my specifications and budget in mind. I'm grateful on so many levels. The car is just the cherry on top : )
So this blog will be to post the ideas &  progress on the project. start to finish , this car is my baby.
I can't wait!

I did it. I bought this "Superbeast" she's 43 years old .
I've always said that one day I would have historic tags. I just thought they would be on the 01 Civic
